Teaching

We base our commitment to teaching God’s Word on a number of pointers in the Bible. The religion of Israel placed a high premium on teaching. Our Lord Himself was a rabbi. Paul urged us to study so that we might be workers who need not be ashamed but are able to handle God's Word rightly. Additionally, we have the clear mandate to go into the world and teach all nations.

We have the example of the first-century churches who took this call seriously. Paul identified teaching as spiritual gifts given to the church and he emphasised the point that a Christian leader is one who is able to teach. Paul urged “pastor-teachers” (Ephesians 4:11) to take their teaching role seriously. It is also our belief that teaching and preaching belong together.

We would like to see the teaching role pervasively present in Christ Sanctuary - from the pulpit to kids and youth ministry, in pre-marital class, discipleship classes, worship seminars, prayer-usher training, and in training for elders and ministry leaders.  

3 Year Discipleship Course

Our purpose is that every student will know, grow, and imitate Jesus. We are currently in the first of a 3-year curriculum of Discipleship Training.
