Our Worship
"To worship is to quicken the conscience by the holiness of God, to feed the mind with the truth of God, to purge the imagination by the beauty of God, to open the heart to the love of God, to devote the will to the purpose of God. All this is gathered up in that emotion which most cleanses us from selfishness because it is the most selfless of all emotions - adoration." William Temple Being aware of the difference between traditon and traditionalism, we gladly embrace what is holy and beautiful as they are found in the entire range of Christian worship down the ages. We do so with discernment, sensitivity, understanding, and appreciation for the different traditions. To this end, we are celebrative yet contemplative; communal yet sacramental; contemporary yet unashamedly liturgical. We believe that people need space to respond to God in prayers, music and liturgies; space for quiet reflection; space to respond to God with all their senses of sight, hearing, smell and touch. In this sense we desire our worship to never cease after Sunday, but allowing it to become integral to our life and work. It is this sacramental view of worship that we pray will mark our lives in and out of church. |
