In God We Trust!

Self-confidence is a game that is as old as human history. It is easy for us to play the same game because we live in a culture, that is self-sufficient, proud, and competitive. People with wealth and political power-play call the shots. And we begin to think that unless we have such resource, then we can’t go anywhere, not even with the work of God.

This is why Paul's corrective letter to the church at Corinth is so very valuable for us today. It tells us that beneath all that veneer of intellectual and cultural sophistication,  our culture is really dying. It reminds us to trust on God alone. I Cor 1:25 says: “The weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.” All the human resources we can muster are no match for his power and greatness.

Many people think that the availability of money comes before any ministry; and that nothing can happen unless you first have the money. This is a reversal of what Scripture teaches. Scripture teaches that you do not begin with money. You begin with ministry. Money becomes available when you take the first step of faith.

In God's scheme of thing, the poorest, most simple believer who puts his trust in God to deliver him is immeasurably richer and powerful.

This is no accident. God planned it this way. We seem to have forgotten that God insisted that Gideon reduce the 32,000 men down to 300, before He would even make use of them.

The world measures greatness by intelligence, wealth, prestige,  position and power. But precisely, those are the very things that God puts at the bottom.  Again and again God demonstrates that it is the world's nobodies, who are His somebodies!
